¹⁵ For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear.^(A) Instead, you received the Spirit of adoption,^(B) by whom we cry out, “Abba,^[a] Father!” ^{(C) 16} The Spirit himself testifies together with our spirit^(D) that we are God’s children,

²⁶ In the same way the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should,^(A) but the Spirit himself intercedes for us^[a](B) with inexpressible groanings. ²⁷ And he who searches our hearts^(C) knows the mind of the Spirit, because he intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

¹⁸ Pray^(A) at all times in the Spirit^(B) with every prayer and request, and stay alert^(C) with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.
