Exodus 17:9-14
Legacy Standard Bible
9 So Moses said to (A)Joshua, “Choose men for us and go out, fight against Amalek. Tomorrow I will take my stand on the top of the hill with (B)the staff of God in my hand.” 10 And Joshua did as Moses [a]told him, to fight against Amalek; and Moses, Aaron, and (C)Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11 So it happened when Moses raised his hand up, that Israel prevailed, and when he let his hand [b]down, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses’ hands were heavy. Then they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it; and Aaron and Hur (D)supported his hands, one on one side and one on the other. Thus his hands were steady until the sun set. 13 So Joshua [c]overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
14 Then Yahweh said to Moses, “(E)Write this in [d]a book as a memorial and [e]recite it in Joshua’s hearing, [f]that (F)I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven.”

11 Thus (A)Yahweh used to speak to Moses face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend. Then [a]Moses would return to the camp, and (B)his attendant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent.
